FAMILY

Family is a group of people who live together, who are related to each other by birth (parents – children) or by affinity (wife – husband).

We distinguish:
immediate family: spouses, parents, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters
extended family: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews

In most societies, the main social function of the family is to raise and socialize children, provide economic framework for reproduction and giving and receiving care.

Many families are incomplete, which means that one of the parents is not living with the family. This situation occurs mostly in families where parents are divorced or separated. This is very difficult for children (both boys and girls), because they may develop wide range of emotional problems.

Family members usually meet on special occasions like weddings, birthday celebrations, funerals etc and have an opportunity to discuss various news and other things. Nephews and nieces meet their uncles and aunts and have to answer many curious questions..:-)

Responsiblities
In a family, various members have different responsibilities. In most families father is the one, who is responsible for financial support of the family and he also protects other family members in situations when it’s needed. In some cases father is also responsible for important decisions, but in many cases, these decisions must also be discussed and approved by mother (and sometimes by children as well).
